Women in science

We are striving to ensure all researchers have the same opportunities to develop their scientific careers.

The ICR has been awarded the Athena SWAN Silver Award. This prestigious award recognises the ICR’s on-going commitment to promoting gender equality in cancer research.  The ICR achieved a Bronze Athena SWAN Award in 2009 and they are now one of only three research institutes to hold an Athena SWAN Silver award.

Professor Paul Workman, Chief Executive of the ICR said:

“Gaining a Silver Award is great recognition of all the work we have done over the last few years. We have created a working environment that is supportive of all our talented researchers, and that enhances the career opportunities of women.”
